From Puerto Rico. With a Story. An unexpected connection. A journey of discovery.

A Familiar Feeling, Half a World Away

A Familiar Feeling, Half a World Away. Something about the island felt unexpectedly familiar.

I grew up at the southern tip of India, surrounded by a tropical landscape, strong family ties, local traditions and communities deeply connected to their culture.

Years later, after making the United States my home, I began spending time in Puerto Rico.

Something about the island felt unexpectedly familiar.

It wasn't simply the tropical landscape. It was the importance of family and community. The pride people took in their food, music and traditions. The small businesses built through years of hard work. The creativity of people making something distinctive from what was available around them.

At the same time, I began learning more about what makes Rico uniquely Puerto Rican—its history, its culture, its challenges and the extraordinary resilience of its people.

Puerto Rico isn't where I was born, and I would never pretend that its story is mine.

But something about the island spoke to something in me.

Over time, Puerto Rico became more than somewhere I traveled.

It became somewhere I wanted to understand, support and stay connected to.

From Visiting to Discovering

As I traveled around Puerto Rico, I started paying more attention to the people creating things there.

Artisans. Farmers. Small businesses. People taking natural materials, traditional skills, local ideas and their own creativity and turning them into something worth discovering.

On one of my trips, I came across jewelry handcrafted from coconut shell.

Coconut was certainly familiar to someone who grew up in southern India. But what interested me wasn't simply the material—it was what someone had imagined they could create from it.

I brought home a small collection.

Those pieces became the first products of Boricua Unlimited.

But they also led to a much bigger idea.

I Started Collecting Names

Before leaving Puerto Rico, I found myself doing something unexpected.

I started collecting names.

Names of artisans. Names of makers. Names of people whose work I wanted to learn more about.

I realized there must be countless interesting products and stories across Puerto Rico that people outside the island may never encounter.

That changed the idea behind Boricua Unlimited.

I didn't want to build a business around coconut jewelry.

I wanted to build a business around discovery.

Why Boricua Unlimited?

Boricua represents the Puerto Rican culture and island that inspired this journey.

Unlimited represents everything we haven't discovered yet.

Today, Boricua Unlimited begins with a small collection of handcrafted jewelry.

Tomorrow, it may introduce the work of another artisan, another craft, another natural product, another small business or something entirely unexpected.

We don't know exactly where the journey will lead.

And that's the point.

Our Purpose

Boricua Unlimited exists to discover, celebrate and share the creativity of Puerto Rico—connecting independent artisans, makers and small businesses with people beyond the island who value where products come from and the stories behind them.

We are starting small.

As we travel, meet people and discover new creations, we hope the collection will grow thoughtfully—one artisan, one product and one story at a time.

And as Boricua Unlimited grows, our ambition is simple: create a business that benefits not only the people who discover something they love, but also the people and communities that created it.

This Is Only the Beginning

The jewelry in our store represents Chapter One.

There are more roads to travel, more people to meet and many more stories to discover.

We hope you'll come along for the journey.
